And when we thought it couldn't get any better: Ngorongoro Crater

This was a huge surprise for us - coming down through a cloud forest to the caldera, which is a mixture of grassland, marsh and acacia forests ... just stunning!!
And yes, we managed to complete the "big five" with a sight of the rare black rhino ... he was a bit far away, but it still count!!

Our vision of Eden (minus the tourists): Serengeti

What can we say - let the pictures do the talking ... just a dozen of over 1000 taken!!

Game drive & walking safari with an armed ranger (!): Lake Manyana national park

This is a "small" park for African standards, covered mostly by a lake and  mountain range ... It supports a very healthy population of elephants, we saw lot of them, some small ones and some more ... "grown up"!

But we also saw lots of amazing birds ...

... zebras, wildebeests, hyppos, buffaloes, baboons (isn't the baby adorable??) ...

Another day, another safari - Tarangire National Park ...

After the warm-up with the Arusha National Park, we stepped up our game with Tarangire NP ... lots of funny looking birds, small and large mammals and our first lions ... joy oh joy!! And in all this, also a very cute accommodation in a "tent" larger and more luxurious than our flat!!

Arusha National Park - first taste of the African wilderness ...

Arusha NP is apparently the smallest in Tanzania, but it is definitely big enough as a preparation for bigger things to come ... Lots of animals around, here is just a small sample ...

Ernst is having fun with his new camera, in fact most of these pictures are his ...
