Still relaxing in paradise ...

... with a healthy multi-fruits (no milk) shake ...

... and another stunning picture of the beach ... this one in the morning, at breakfast ...

... feeding some friendly locals ... (the fish was already dead and washed ashore, of course) ...

... some more guests sleeping in our cottage ... always welcome as they keep some insects away ... unfortunately mosquitos are too quick for them ...

... Ernst showing off as sexy "paraglider" ...

... and a beautiful sunset on the other side of the island, that we reached on foot ... well, barefoot to be precise ...

... but our time here is almost over ... tomorrow is our last day, then back to the madness of Bangkok, waiting for our flight to Perth and hoping that the "shutdown" will not interfere ...

Koh Samet - just relaxing in paradise ...

... on the boat to Koh Samet ... a bit windy, as you can see ...

... our lovely cottage in the jungle ... but about 20 meters from the beach :) ...

... the lovely swimming pool overlooking the beach ... freezing cold, though ...

... a panorama of the resort ...

... not just sand ...

... but lots of white sand nevertheless ...

... me and my inseparable dodgy hat ...

... it looks like Ernstl has found a new way to entertain himself ... how sweet ... ;)

... a friend we met on the beach - an adorable hermit crab - on the large size, though ...

... and finally, a sunrise not to be missed ...

... who said there is no wildlife on this island? check out the cute squirrel chewing on a chestnut!

... the food is lovely, the beer is abundant ... what more can one ask for?

... oh, and there is some live entertainment in the evening, too ... whilst we dine by candlelight on the beach ...

Sunday 26 January 2014

Bangkok is mindblowing ...

... it all started with the horrific bus journey from Siem Reap - left in the sun like douches, waiting for the bus for hours after the Thai border ... I needed to protect myself from the sun ... somehow ...

... and some people singing and dancing close to Siam Square is all the unrest we have witnessed so far ...

... Siam shopping centre is pure madness ... and Ernst is playing the game ...

... they are not even the craziest shoes we have seen ...

... Harrods in Bangkok??

... temptations at every corner but ... we are vegans and we know it ...

... how cute is this "little" lizard, just sleeping close to a stinky, horrible canal? it was about the size of a Komodo dragon, by the way ...

... relaxing @ Kafe Kafe, around the corner from our hotel ...

... someone needs Binderholz's help ...

... we decided to walk around Chinatown in the evening ... oh Lord ... enter the dragon ...

... we didn't want to photograph the horrendous food most stalls had on offer ... yak ... but the atmosphere was completely surreal and we loved it!

... tomorrow: journey to Koh Samet, stay tuned for more sun and sand pics ...

Friday 24 January 2014

Two more days in Siem Reap ... now we are definitely templed out!!

... the first day started with sunrise at Angkor Wat, leaving the hotel at the ungodly hour of 5 am ..

... we then moved to Bayon ... look at those faces!!

... and then to the Tomb Raider set of Ta Prohm ... have to love the jungle power!!

... before going back to Angkor Wat in the afternoon, trying to dodge the billion Chinese, Koreans and Russians that had invaded the site in the morning ...

On the second day, we decided to get a break from the temple-only vibe and went to visit a butterfly centre - we loved it!! check out the stick insect, too ...

... then made our way to - you guess it - yet another temple, Banteay Srei ... we got attacked by a mad cow in the process...

... we then visited ACCB rescue centre ... we did not take many pictures as most animals were in cages, but the guys are doing a great job in a very difficult situation ... aren't the twin storks just adorable??

... and finally - a last temple ... or even better, the royal crematorium (yak!) - Pre Rup ...

We could not have spent two better days ... our last ones in Cambodia ... as tomorrow we are crossing to Thailand, heading to Bangkok ... fingers crossed!!
