Jodhpur

We have the most amazing hotel in a magical location ....

... the Clock Tower and the crazy market are just around the corner ..

... and so are the most important monuments ....

Ernst fell in love with the spiciest samosas in town ....

... and I with the Bishnois ...

We even ended up dressed up like them!!

Ranakpur ...

... Jain temple and much more ...

... I don't know why but we are constantly asked to take pictures by the locals ... although they look so much better than us!

At a motorcycle temple (yes, there is such thing), I managed to take these two beautiful pictures ...

And what about this ancient but very effective way to extract some water in a desert environment??

Udaipur - the white city ...

... the City Palace, the gardens and especially the Pichola Lake ... such a charming city!

not to talk of a temple full with holy men and ... kamasutra inscriptions!!

Chittorgarh

Yet another fortress, or at least what remains of it and of other palaces around ...

Once inhabited by kings and moguls, they are now home to birds and ... chipmunks!! They are as ubiquitous in India as dogs and cows ...

The most interesting thing was a women's gathering - it seemed so colourful and cheerful but it was in fact a funeral procession, followed by a purification ritual ...

More colourful character on the way to Udaipur ...

Jaipur (2nd day) & Pushkar

We saved the best for the last - the Amber Fort...

... and of course, the Wind Palace!

(as you can see, not everybody was as enthusiastic as we were about the latter!)

But I think that the people are the most interesting thing in Rajasthan ...

In the afternoon, we moved over to Pushkar, where we even got a blessing from a Brahmin ... no, the camel was not involved!!

Not a bad day, eh! And tomorrow, on the road again ... to Udaipur!
